Hi all, I have the latest FreeNAS 9.10. I want to add one drive to my pool going from 4x3tb to 5x3tb RaidZ2. I KNOW i have to destroy the pool somehow. My plan is to :
- replicate the whole pool to one spare 3tb drive (i will find a way that there enough room)
- destroy the pool
- create the new 5x3tb pool with the same name
- replicate back the data to my newly created pool.

Question : will I recover everything like my jails / plugins etc ?

Your input will be welcome.

Jails etc live on the main pool, so if you replicate everything, you should be fine. I would backup the config file from the web UI as well, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your feedback ttabbal. I'm OCD when it comes to config file backups. I email it daily to my gmail account and in my pool. ;)

If you have 6x3TB HDDs try to dump the data from the array to an alternative location(s) on your network and create a 6x3TB RAIDz2 pool instead of a 5x3TB RAIDz2
