Hello,
I want to buy/build a NAS by myself, therefore I need some advise.
First, I wanted to buy the ASRock J5005, but it's not available in Germany....
Should I wait until it's available again or should I buy another board (J4205 or J4105)?

The NAS should have WOL, min. 4x SATA and should consume very low energy (very expensive at the moment in Germany - 30ct/kWh).

In addition I want to buy this components:
- 16Gbyte RAM (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01BIWMWVS or https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008LTBJFW)
- PicoPSU
- Scalar 72W
- 3x Y power splitter for SATA
- Case (this, this or that) - don't know which one to take, would take 110 or 130 'cause I don't like the 120's design (do the 110&130 fit all the components?)

Thank you very much in forward for your advise and help and have a nice day!

- Sebastian

The motherboards you're considering are not suitable. Lack of ECC aside, experiences with J-series Atom processors have not been positive.

Another important point is that you're looking at an 180ish Watt PSU as the minimum with four drives and a rather low-power system. In practice, the better option is a 450 W unit like the Seasonic Focus Plus 450 W or the Corsair RM450.

The NAS should have WOL
A NAS should run 24/7 so there is no need for wake-on-LAN. With FreeNAS, you should be scheduling things like SMART tests of the drives and scrubs of the storage pool for times when you are not actively using the system. That doesn't leave much time for the system to be off.
