Hi guys,
I have been using FreeNAS now for a few months. It's been great and I am very happy with it. However, I'm a bit of a noob still and I have several questions that should be pretty simple for the experts to answer. So please answer which ones you can.
1. When I originally set FreeNAS up, I did NOT select the option to encrypt the pools. Since then I have seen multiple places where it has been said that I should really encrypt the drives as there is not much of a performance hit. Is there a way to enable encryption on the pools without creating a new pool and losing everything?
2. How often should I enable drive scrubbing? Currently I have set it to 12 days.
3. With FreeNAS 9.2.0 they added the ability to 'upgrade' plugins. For example, I use the PLEX plugin, but when I upgraded it I lost all my settings. Is there a way to upgrade AND keep settings? Specifically in PLEX.
4. How often should I enable S.M.A.R.T. checking? Where does it display the S.M.A.R.T. results?
Thanks for your time!
