Multiple mirror in a pool, how the actual data is written on the drives / mirrors set

Hi,

I'm new to Freenas and browsed the forum and other resources but I didn't found a answer to my question.

When you have multiple mirrors set in 1 pool, how the data end up being written?

IF I write a file(s) and pull out 1 mirror drive, what will I "found" on it?

I do hope I'm clear enough.

Thanks in advance.

Each mirror in a zpool is a vdev. Data is "stripped" across the vdevs. You will not find anything useful on a single drive if the zpool is made with multiple vdevs.

If the zpool only contains one vdev (mirrored drives) then a single pulled drive will have a complete copy of the data and be an exact duplicate of the remaining drive.

You just confirm what my feeling was telling me.

I can continue my testing and setup with that info :)
