Hello,

I have the latest FreeNAS with two network cards and it is currently configured in iSCSI mode to provide shared storage for an ESXi v5.0 lab. That is working fine.

I setup the two nics as follows to the same switch.
bge - 192.168.1.16
emo -192.168.1.15

I wanted to set both nics MTU to 9000 and found that information on the forums. However, on either nic, under Nework, Interfaces, edit and Options I enter mtu 9000 and hit ok. I then get this message: "The network 192.168.0.0/16 is already in use by another NIC"

Being new to Freenas I don't know what this means or how to correct it?

Thanks for any advice.

well, you have 2 nics on the same subnet.

what is your network topology supposed to look like?

I haven't decided yet what that will be but why would that matter for the MTU setting? All the servers involved at the moment are setup in that range with their nics but I will probably do something along the lines of 192.168.1.0/16 for all nics and then the secondaries will probably be in the 10.0.0.0/24 which would be for iSCSI traffic etc.

Does having two nics on the same subnet not allow one to configure the MTU for each nic? Seems a bit odd but if so I can change it.
