Moving data between FreeNAS and iOS devices

I finished installing FreeNAS and was checking available plugins. However I could not find an elegant and free solution to move data between FreeNAS and iOS devices. What I am looking for is the following:

1. Upload photos from iOS devices to FreeNAS dataset
2. Download mp3s from FreeNAS dataset to iOS devices

Plex Pass seems a good and very elegant solution but it costs a lot, and I am eager to know if I am able to achieve these goals for free, or by using a cheaper software such as FilesConnect of File Browser.

Your options are somewhat limited if the cost is free. You could do Owncloud but other than that it's going to cost money...

OwnCloud is good, however their iOS client is not, for example it takes about two minutes to upload one image from iPhone to server and it crashes a lot. Maybe there are better WebDav clients out there.

Could you please tell me what other (even costly) options do I have?
