i wish to move it to nextcloud - should this work and how?

no i diden't - on the FreeNAS where would this file be stored?

You want to move a nextcloud VM to nextcloud? I don't see how that would work, so I'll assume you meant to say move a nextcloud VM to FreeNAS.

Do you want to store the VM HDD file on FreeNAS? or do you mean you want to run the VM in Bhyve on FreeNAS?
