monthly run output how to enable?

i received an email saying this...



Doing login accounting:
total 0.00
Posting monthly OS statistics disabled
set monthly_statistics_enable="YES" in /etc/periodic.conf

-- End of monthly output --


i really need to edit /etc/periodic.conf ? is that not gone on upgrade after? is there another way to enablke the monthly output?

I have been receiving these too. I have tried a few things but have been unsuccessful.

Did you ever figure it out?

It's not telling you there's a problem. It's letting you know what you would change if you want your stats to be uploaded to the FreeBSD site.

Now thats funny. People trying to change settings without even having a clue of what they are.

Please don't laugh or flame: How does one edit this /etc/periodic.conf ? Is it possible to use a GUI text editor?

One could use the vi text editor in Shell, but the changes would be overwritten after a reboot or upgrade. If this feature is important to you, create a feature request at bugs.freenas.org asking for either the monthly be enabled or the ability to edit periodic.conf be added to the GUI.
