I've got a linux server that I decided would get a lot more use out of being a FreeNAS box, since it's mostly used for storage anyway. Its running a Supermicro X7DCL-3 motherboard, which has SATA ports on the ICH9R controller and SAS ports on the LSI SAS1086E controller. So my question is, can I have disks inside a RAID-Z (or mirror) that are mixed across the two drive controllers? I assume the LSI controller would need to be flashed to IT mode at least (it may be already, can't recall).

Thanks!
