Mirror or Raidz1 for 3x 10TB

I could use max 3x HDDs (WD red 10TB). So my question is is raidz1 really such a bad idea. And is a mirror a good solution/alternative. raidz2 or similar is not possible. At that system I can only use 3 drives at most.

Speed is here not really important, I just want something safe.

Then a 3 drive mirror is what you want. RaidZ1 has major chances of issues with drives over 3TB and even RaidZ2 is looking unsafe by the time you get into the 10TB range.

Thanks. I agree, mirror will be the best solution. I will go with a mirror of the 2x 10TB use the third drive as a backup. I would like to keep this backup at a different location. Detaching and Attaching this third backup should work with zpool attach/detach, correct?

May as well do a 3 way mirror or use the 3rd as a hot spare.
