Hello!

I have decided to migrate my XigmaNAS system to TrueNAS (I have been using it for many years since its NAS4FREE version).

The installation will be done on an HP Gen8, with an Intel Xeon(R) CPU E3-1265L V2 @ 2.50GHz, 16Gb mem, and with an ibm hba raid card with two zpools. Also with two mirrored disks for the operating system (as now with XigmaNAS), these connected in the native HP "raid".

The current version of my Xigmanas on your freebsd is already 13, the same as TrueNAS. For my domestic use, I have seen that the biggest migration problem could be importing the zpools, although I see the issue of flags, rather than version, and this makes it difficult for me to determine that they are 100% compatible.

Any suggestions? Should I have any consideration in migrating the zpools? The system is updated and I understand that they must be compatible or very similar (we will always have the rollback...)

best regards

This is a problem.

RAID controllers are problematic, and aren't recommended.

ops! I see more forum posts from various users who use it. Without having more detail of possible problems, of course

I have LSI SAS2008 IT

Well, I installed and imported it without any error.

Through iLO, installing with the ISO has given me some read error. So I've flashed the ISO to a USB and used the Gen8's internal usb drive to make the install smoothly.

I'll take a closer look at the raid and the link you provided.

Thank you so much!

You need to clarify whether it is a HBA or a RAID controller, and which firmware it runs.
sas2flash -listall should give the anwser.

The issue arises equally for XigmaNAS.

It's a RAID controller. If it were an HBA, it would say IT instead of B2.
