Quick question :)

I have a Truenas Scale server setup on an X99 platform with a Xeon CPU.
I'm building a new(er) server using a new Xeon Gold Scalablwe CPU + Motherboard and will want to move my Truenas Boot drives and data disks over to it.

Found these two posts:
https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/building-new-server-how-to-move-drives.98135/
https://www.truenas.com/community/resources/moving-freenas-to-new-hardware.89/

Seems like a pretty painless migration, still the case in 2023 with Truenas Scale?
Any tips or suggestions otherwise?

Thanks :)

I guess the key here is I should be able to to transfer my 2 Boot SSDs, ensure the new server boots from one of them and the new/changed hardware should mostly seemlessly work? Once I transfer my data drives and pools, all my data will come back with all the permissions?

In theory, all should be fine except you will likely have to re-configure the network from the console. Network is the biggest item that does not migrate to a different model of system board.

If you have a complex network, I'd suggest making note of the details. Then from the console get the management NIC up and running first. This will allow you to finish the remaining network configuration from the GUI.
