Hi.

Had a friend set up my server a few years ago, and now I want to move to FreeNAS because it seems easier and has a much larger support base. I'm not the most savvy at ZFS systems, but i'm a quick learner. I am trying to figure out the simplest, or most efficient, way to change my server over to FreeNAS from FiFo. Is there a way to do it without loosing the data on my zpool? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, FreeNAS likes to create its own zpools, as it partitions the disks to put a small swap partition at the beginning of each disk, and defines the pool members by GPT id. But even even so, if it's an OpenZFS pool (and IIRC, SmartOS does use OpenZFS), FreeNAS should be able to import your pool without issue.
