You could pkg_add -rf mc to force the installation.

Alternately, you could install the ports collection and compile mc to also update all of its dependencies. See http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Plugins#Installing_non-PBI_Software for instructions.


Yes, I did, but got lot of errors related to dependencies and so on. Anyway I found out that freebsd doesnt support ext4 from which I wanted to move files into FREENAS. It looks like I have to move them over ethernet which will take few days ;/. Another big issue is missing encryption ;/

8.3.1 has encryption(its available in nightly only). I have been testing it and had zero problems so far. Its an alpha release so if your data is very important I wouldn't use it.

Yes, i know it but like you said - if your data is very .. ;/ so have to wait for official release.


But any idea if its possible to mount ext4 inside freenas?
