Hello

Is there a way that mDNS register another server name than hostname ?
It would be great to have something more user friendly as a server name in Mac Os finder. (Caps, spaces...)
My Mac client connect with SMB

Thanks

Then it's not so much the mDNS name you're worried about... look under the settings of the SMB service at the NetBIOS Alias.
Hello
I thought netbios was not used anymore. (It's not activated in global config by default )
The tooltip over mDns says MacOs client will use hostname.
As the smb name is not used by mac, I'll try with netbios alias.

I've tried today,
NetBios alias need the option "Netbios NS" to be enabled but they don't support caps nor spaces. and the server appears twice in Mac os client : with the hostname and with the netbios alias... too confusing.

Finally caps are supported in hostname and spaces can be replace by - (dash)
