What is to be expected with an un-tuned TN Core system in terms of SMB write performance for 1G and 10G ethernet?

I am running multiple USB 2,5 GBit ethernet dongles and one 1 GBit dongle.

Both are not maxing out the througput under macOS 11.6 - staying around 130ish MByte / s. This feels more like 1G speed. MTU / Jumbo Frames cannot be altered for macOS - max is 1500

Whereas with Win 10 the same dongle with mtu = 9014 does nearly max out with 2,5 Gbit/s in sending / receiving.

Also the write speed from macOS to Win 10 / RAMdisk is not maxing out either.

I have installed the drivers from

Under Advanced in the Network Settings under MacOS (I admit it's 12.0,b7, so maybe that's why the difference), I see this:

Hello @sretalla

Thank you for the post of the setup - yes, this is possible for me to change also, however only for the already integrated NIC of the Mac.

My USB ethernet dongles do not have this 9000 option to select.
