Sorry this is a rather simple issue, can't seem to find any threads on it though.

I am migrating my array into a "new" chassis with better hot swap bays. The new sever has two LSI 300-8x raid cards. I cant seem to get FreeNas to see the drives. What settings do I need to change in the LSI configuration to set the drives to JBOD or what Freenas needs? Its not really practical for me to wipe the data, otherwise I would play around with it.

Thanks in advance.

I know if you use an raid card it needs to be in (flashed?) proper firmware - passthrough jbod and then if its compatible with freebsd you should see discs.. and I would assume smart info etc.. If it is setup properly and still doesn't have support.. If it is not supported and not yet available as a driver etc you could add a request at bugs.freenas.org.. I don't use a raid card / expander etc yet so take what I say with a grain of salt someone else may chime in to help..

I would use clean backed up disks and once freenas sees the disks create a clean empty pool and start backing up.

Oh sorry I found my issue already and didnt see a way to lock the thread; it was actually the 2TB limit on the older LSI cards. All of my drives are 3+ TB.

So if you used anything greater then 2tb the card doesn't function and/or show any drives? Are you able to flash to get to use 2tb or is it a hard limit with that series of cards?
