what low TDP processor(LGA 1151) you recommend?
You don't want low tdp unless you have a cooling problem. CPUs idle at about the same speed and power usage no matter what their peak performance. Ideally it idles slow and gives you plenty of processing power when you need it.

Wow, those results are much worse for the low-TDP processors than I expected.

I expected the results to be a bit of a wash, since power consumption is said to scale with the square of clock frequency. I guess the race to idle ends up compensating for that...

Shows the e3-1220v5 is the value leader, where as the 1230 is the value leader if you care about video encoding (ie plex), see "x264 v2015-11-02"

And this graph shows why you would go for the L processors... see... 25C at peak. That's the why. BUT unless you're building a closed box nas, you shouldn't be worrying about L processors.
