If you utilize search, quite a few threads detailing how will pop up. Many guides don't get into anything other than the basics, so a few things you may find useful:

• Pre-built openssl.cnf, with all commands required at the bottom of the config, to create a CA with and certs to be signed by it
• Custom tuned OpenVPN server config
• Custom tuned OpenVPN client config

If the VPN is going to be exposed to WAN:

• It should be setup in a chroot, regardless if it's installed in a jail or not, at /var/chroot-openvpn/.
• I wrote an depth wiki on how to configure an OpenVPN server on OpenWrt, however, whereas the process will not be the same, the information contained therein will be helpful and informative.
