BUILD Looking for advice: Dell Precision T5400

We are looking to repurpose a Dell Precision T5400, Xeon E5405 2Ghz, with an Intel 631X ESB/6321 Controller and Broadcom Nextreme 57XX NIC.

We are happy to add lots of memory but I'm wondering if it is worth building on top of this hardware. Views?

I'd make sure that FreeNAS will boot and run on the Dell hardware before buying lots of RAM for it. Many models of Dell/HP/etc don't work with FreeBSD at all.

Your Broadcom NIC might work on FreeNAS. The best way to find out is to try it.
