Hi, I am using Freenas version 11.7, and i have been suffering confirming issues through the internet. I have enabled SMB, and if I attempt a login using my private IP address, it works. However, if I use my public IP address, even if i enter the correct username and password, it says the my password is incorrect. Can someone help me?

You need to be much clearer about what you're trying to do (for us and for yourself also).
You should not expose FreeNAS directly to the Internet by port forwarding (perhaps that's what you were trying to explain that you had done).
If you need access to files outside your own network, use either a VPN or an application/plugin like Nextcloud to expose the data (together with an SSL reverse proxy like nginX or caddy) ... there are threads in the forum on how to do that
The latest version is 11.2 U6, so I guess you mean you are running 11.1 U7
