Hi Guys,

I'm recycling an i5-10400 and need a compatible LGA 1200 ITX motherboard. So far I haven't been able to find one with a LAN chipset compatible with TrueNas and I would prefer not to have to use a PCI-E NIC card. Being ITX, there's only one PCI-E slot and I would prefer to use it for additional storage down the track.
As far as i'm aware, anything with the following LAN chipsets are not compatible but if i'm wrong, please let me know:

- Intel 2.5GbE LAN chip
- Intel I219-V
- Intel I225-V
- Anything Realtek

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Haven't found anything about Intel Killer 3100G but it seems most Killer chipsets aren't supported either?

Just use an addin card rather than the onboard

Some realtek NICs (2.5GbE) are supported in recent versions: https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/intel-ethernet-i219-v-no-driver-attached.93145/ (go to the bottom of the thread).

For sure you should avoid those "Killer" NICs.

Depending on your use-case, you may have some/more success looking at SCALE as the Debian driver support is probably much wider and may include all of those on your avoidance list. (if SCALE can do what you need)

Mandatory pedantic warning: From the 10th gen, Core CPU do not support ECC. (Save a few embedded parts.)

An i5-10400 is not so expensive that it is worth reusing by all means. Maybe this CPU would best be used in a desktop or sold, while the NAS is built from server-grade parts—second-hand where practical.
