I have a dual GB intel nic on my freenas supermicro server.

It's hooked up to a Cisco SG 300-10 10-Port Gigabit Managed Switch.

On the client side I have a Mabook pro laptop. And an iMac.

The laptop is connected with 1 Gb Port.

The iMac is connected with 1 native 1Gb port and one thunderbolt adapter with another 1Gb port. The iMac is then configured with a virtual interface:

This is what things look like on the switch, The TSW-SUPERSPEED group is the one for the Server, the other one is for the iMac:

The problem is that I'm not getting any speed increase on the iMac. Even worse, when I'm pulling files from the server with both clients I'm getting the speeds as if they were sharing a single 1Gb connection.

Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something?

Here's what the freenas part looks like:

Lacp only gives a single client max throughout of a single nic. You didn't read the manual did you? ;)

I did but there's a lot of misinformation out there about LACP and people who think you can magically turn a 1Gb into a 10Gb connection.

I'm running 2 ports from the server, to the switch, then from the switch 2 ports to one client and one port to another. I expected to get at least 1Gb simultaneously on each client since I am running 2 Gb ports from the server…

Missed the part about 2 clients. But it still doesn't work that way. You are not guaranteed to have client alternate between NICs. So you saw both clients getting mapped to the same nic. It takes 10+ clients before the distribution works properly.
