My update did take longer than usual, but it ended up working after a while.

Well, the supposedly-fixed version is from the 15th, so 20150315something.

I figured out why my system would hang forever when trying to update: I didn't realize that 9.3 will keep every snapshot of every boot volume around forever, and I was slowly filling up my root partition. The update process would slowly eat up all of the disk space and then just silently fail. I went into System -> Boot and deleted all but the latest couple of snapshots then my update finished successfully.

Supposedly, today's update is the definite fix.

Received an email early this morning with a new update, and this issue is STILL present, not sure why its taking this long to fix a change log issue.... This problem really makes it more difficult to view which problems have been fixed so I can decide if I want to perform the update or not.

Is this back in a different form? Now I'm getting the email outlining an update I've already applied. At least the OS isn't letting me apply it multiple times but... still getting email?

Haven't noticed anything, but my server was having trouble reaching the internet so it didn't get the chance to send the update email before I invoked the upgrader.

This (general issues with the web GUI update interface) appears to be an ongoing issue at this point.
Have been getting the E-mail notifications stating " A new update is available for the FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE train." for 4 or 5 days now, but the "Changelog:" section is blank. The master changelog at http://update.freenas.org/FreeNAS/FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE/ChangeLog.txt appears to have a correctly-coded entry for FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201505100553 and FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201505130355 (2 most recent entries). Guess that can be checked as the authoritative source when the E-mail notifications have hiccups.

I say "general issues" because I've also had other quirks (the Update tab sometimes loading with information for a pending update, and then the next time indicating No Updates found, or indicating No Updates for stretches when a manual check returns a pending update to apply (which I believe is a problem that was attempted to be 'fixed' earlier in 2015 on the Stable train).

Yep I got the same one this morning, update available empty email.
It does concern me if this stuff is broken, what else is, I'd hate to hose my system with this new update feature.

I wonder if they are deciding to ease up on support for 9xxxx and just focus on 10 though? The milestone due dates are coming in thick and fast. As long as 10 works on my Microserver (apparently it might have trouble due to AMD) then I'm fine with this.

9.3 is definitely in active development. 10 doesn't even work yet in a full-fledged manner. Stuff is still being added/fixed in 9.3.

@danno

I'd recommend you open tickets for the broken stuff. I've seen some of those behaviors and I figured they were a "me only" problem since I have some odd browser issues that are, so far, undiagnosed.

I've never opened a ticket, but am willing to follow up (eventually). I've had some other more critical problems (like with CrashPlan breaking...see https://forums.freenas.org/index.ph...lation-and-update-problems.30893/#post-202860, for example), so will try to follow up when I get the other fires under control.

BTW - I installed the latest update, FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201505130355, no knowing that it would not help with regard to the CrashPlan issue. Initially, the other problem I (and others) reported with the console not displaying from the GUI footer continued to, well, not display. But, after working on the CrashPlan issue (restarting the jail, which I believe also ties in to Java), the console messages started working normally again. Don't know if/how long that will last, though...
