When I type the full path for 1 directory deeper which has a heap of movies in it, it says path is invalid.
I have no idea if I have ACL or permission issues, I dont know how to tell if I have messed them up.

Think I worked it out....
Was messing around with plex and had the same problem.
I think its definitely a permission issue .
In windows I found out jellyfin group had permission to the folder i mounted but not anything within the folder.
So I went to permission for the dataset and selected

and it then started working.

Is there any problem with doing this?

Well I'm not an expert with Truenas as some other folks here. But as far as I know it should't be a problem when applying permissions recursively and to the child datasets unless you don't want that an application to have access to a certain subfolder or child dataset. Often times users do have problems whit permissions when they forget to tick that checkbox.
