hello all. first freenas build my question is when setting jails do i make a jail for each data set i create. for instance shares/shares/movies = 1 jail
shares/shares/tv_shows = another jail

Per the 9.10 Manual:
Before you can create any jails, you must first configure which volume or dataset will be used to hold the jails. To do so, click Jails ‣ Configuration to access the screen shown in Figure 13.1a. It is recommended to create a dataset to use for the “Jail Root”. As jails are created, they will automatically be installed into their own dataset under the specified path. For example, if you configure a “Jail Root” of /mnt/volume1/dataset1 and create a jail named jail1, it will be installed into its own dataset named /mnt/volume1/dataset1/jail1.

You seem to either have a fundamental misunderstand of what jails are, or to be explaining your question very poorly. You do not ordinarily create jails for your datasets. A jail will be placed in a dataset (i.e., a dataset is created for each jail), but that's done automatically when you create the jail.

ok thanks. i have another question i have created a share. i am on linux ubuntu 16.04 i can see the share i can go into the share but i can't create any folders it sates permission denied is there a setting i haven't found in Freenas. thanks
