Jails, VMs and Disaster recovery?

I am considering adding a second FreeNAS box for a couple jails and a VM (Headphones, Nextcloud, and a LAMP server (VM), specifically).

I am curious what the process would be to recover from a complete loss of the box.

For example, suppose I backed up the config and the volumes to a second location. What would I have to do to get a replacement box up and running? Do I have to re-create the VMs and Jails from scratch?

The scenario is no different then any other backup strategy, you need to backup the configuration and the data according to the 1-2-3 rule. Then in the event of an catastrophic failure you simply build a new box, restore the data and the configuration.
