jails not viewing mounted folder right?

Hi, so I have plex and transmission set up on my freenas server, and all works well.
my folder structure is sort of as follows:

./storage/torrents
./storage/media/tv
./storage/media/movies

now, when I just added plugins for couchpotato and sickbeard, I mount the storage folder on the /media folder in the jail, but the apps failed to recognize any contents. So I went into my sickbeard folder and lo and behold, it shows media and torrents inside /media, but both folders are empty! Why is this happening? media doesn't even show its subfolders, and I've tried setting read permissions.. I'm so confused

haha, I ended up going another route on it. in the jail I unmounted everything, and made directories ./media/torrents and ./media/movies (or tv) and mounted the folders separately and everything worked fine. I'm like sort of newbie-ish so I probably just did something silly.
