Jails can't browse/ping

Weird for sure -- what you are trying to do is really very basic...

Fresh FreeNAS install, same result.

EDIT: Figured it out. Had to delete the entire iocage dataset in my FreeNAS pool. Then once I created the jail from scratch, everything just works.

Hmm, I would have never guessed a corruption issue to be the problem. Well, good to know you figured things out. Unfortunately this doesn't really help anyone in the future with similar issues :(

I realise this is an old thread, but I am having the exact same problem, even after blowing away the iocage dataset and starting again.
I've compared the jail properties with my old freenas box and everything looks the same.
I'm not sure where to even look now??

Been having this issue for hours and tried everything you did before I found this. Thanks, sorted it.
