Hi guys,

i have just completed my first Freenas Build and now I am going on with the configuration of my server.
At the moment I have just one pool (8 TB) for data such as photo document movie. Pool is composed by HD in mirror configuration.
I would need of your support to understand which is the best practise in terms of jails pool selection.

in my build I have also 2x250 Gb SSD that are unsed at the moment.
is it better to have pool just for the jails? if it is, I was thinking to use SSD in mirror configuration
or is there a more clever and more usual configuration? a dedicate dataset in the main pool?

thank you in advance

Until I build my new FreeNAS box just before I had the jails stored and running from the HDD pool. It will work fine like this, and simply creates a dataset called iocage where everything is stored.

When I built my new FreeNAS box I put 2xSSD in a mirror and moved the iocage folder across to these. It works even better like this as the SSDs are much faster than the HDD pool.
