Not sure what 32 bit system has to do with this. Does the updater continue or stall at that point?

It just hangs there.

Un check vimage and restart the jail.

Sorry, complete newbie here. Where is vimage?

Highlight the jail in the GUI and click on the edit button at the bottom. Find the vimage checkbox and un check and hit save. Then hit the yellow button to restart the jail.

This is explained in the manual that's linked at the top of this page as well as a link in the FreeNAS GUI.
