All,
A fairly straightforward issue, but I would like comments from the community.
I have an old iXsystems Mini loaded with 11.2 that still runs like a champ. The plan was to put it in the Airstream, but it is too big for the space available. So I am considering repackaging it as follows:
I will reuse the Mini's motherboard, memory, SATA-DOM, etc.
Any comments or suggestions? Specifically:
Now if I could only find a 12v source power supply...
Thanks!

I have an old iXsystems Mini loaded with 11.2 that still runs like a champ. The plan was to put it in the Airstream, but it is too big for the space available. So I am considering repackaging it as follows:
- Smaller case -- Rosewill Mini ITX Desktop (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B..._title_dp_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2L77EE7U53NWQ) This is the only case i have found that fits in the 14" x 12" x 6" package space
- 6 SanDisk Ultra 1TB SSD's -- This is for shock resistance, and lower power, not speed
- ICY DOCK 6 x 2.5" SATA /SAS HDD/SSD Hot Swap Mobile Rack -- This fits in the single 5" bay of the rosewill
I will reuse the Mini's motherboard, memory, SATA-DOM, etc.
Any comments or suggestions? Specifically:
- Using SanDisk Ultras as a low cost SSD?
- Is there any value to a ZIL and ARC with SSD?
- Does anyone know of an alternative case with with the 14x12x6 package dimensions and an open 5" bay?
Now if I could only find a 12v source power supply...
Thanks!
