iSCSI performance

I've configured TrueNas as a datastore for VMs hosted on ESXi. I have carried out a (possible?) stress test and it seems the connection is underperforming.

Details are as follows:
Data store:
TrueNas: 13.0-U3.1
CPU: 2x Opteron 4122
RAM: ECC 64Gib
Storage: 2 pools Raidz2 1 pool stripped-mirror (datastore)

Connection:
iSCSI 4 x direct connection on separate subnets

ESXI:
Version 6.0
Various VMs - focus is Ubuntu VM webserver

Testing:
I uploaded a 4Gb file to the webserver and then ran (1) a single download and (2) parallel downloading using web-browsers across six PCs over the internet.
(1) results in download speeds of about 50-70mb/s (2) 70-90mb/s (summed across the machines over 3 rounds).
The ESXi showed around 30mb/s. With all the iSCSI links toping at 197.1 mb/s

I'm trying to workout:
- is this a reasonable testing process?
- if this performance is poor?

Any thoughts would be really appreciated!

Thanks
