Is there an "easy" way to backup my AFP share to a USB drive

I have a 2TB AFP share for Time Machine and a 2TB USB3 external. I am trying to find a way to replicate my AFP data to USB on a periodic schedule in case I should some how loose my zpool. From my reading it would seem I would need to do rsync or something similar. Is there another easier way to accomplish this?

I am not very skilled with the CLI yet, so I'm trying to find a step by step guide or at least something to show me the rough steps.
