is my update working correctly?

using freenas 11.1

there are no pending updates freenas 11 stable (automatically check for updates is checked) - if i hit check now it shows a window which updates to 11.1-u1

why is this not showing in the pending updates pane?

Might be a bug. Were you able to take a screenshot before updating? If so, create a report at bugs.freenas.org and post the issue number here.

When you create the ticket there is a Browse button to add an image to the ticket.

not a bug

this is behaving correctly (see http://doc.freenas.org/11/system.html#applying-updates for details). The Check Now screen shows the available updates but the Pending Updates box only has an entry if you download an update but uncheck the Apply updates after downloading box (meaning that you intend to apply them later). This is so you don't forget that you have downloaded updates that you haven't applied yet.
