Hello all, i have an old P4 PC with only PATA ports for HD. I would like to use Freenas with this pc but before to buy some hardware i would like to know if freenas is able to detect and use a basic PCI/SATA extension card?

Thanks for your help.

It should work fine. You should find out if the card you are looking to use is supported by FreeBSD since that is the OS FreeNAS is built on.

Highpoint RR1740

I had the Highpoint RocketRaid 1740 on an old VIA C3 working fine for the last 2 years. It's a cheap 4xSATA PCI Card. It was working with FreeNas 0.69.
I'm currently trying to upgrade the board and Freenas (to 8.0), the Highpoint still works fine, and I can mount the raid under console without dataloss, but not under WebGUI, so it likely should work with new created Raid well.
