ipmi.ko kernel extension file - deleted. Will it works stable?

Hi Everyone, (this is right post)
I have Celsius M470-2 machine, there was no way to work TrueNAS software because of problem while system was loading, stops on this: ipmi0 using ksc interface.
The problem was described here:
The solution wich i found elsewhere is to remove file ipmi.ko:


The Author post said that after delete this file it system works fine and stable. Could You confirm that and what is responsible of ipmi.ko file?

IPMI refers to the Internet Protocol Management Interface which some (typically server) motherboards have in order to be able to manage them remotely from outside the Data Centers in which they live.

Without that kernel module present, you would not be able to interact with that interface, but it seems to me you don't have one, so nothing lost.

You can probably set a tunable
  • type: loader
  • name: ipmi_load
  • value: NO
to prevent the IPMI module from being loaded even after updates. It's not necessary for operation.
