Hi All,

I recently put together a FreeNas system with some old, non server parts, I know that is not ideal, but I figured it might be worth a shot versus building a new expensive system. The motherboad is a Nvidia based chipset, and has an Intel QuadCore Q6600 cpu, paired with 8gb of DDR2 ram (Non-ecc). 4, 3TB WD red drives in a Raid Z1 configuration.

I installed Freenas 9.1.1 onto an 8gb usb drive, and it was working fine for a few weeks. Then the pool went into an "Unavailable" state. The last email report I got is below... I see the errors and the disks that went offline. When this happened it seems to was logging a ton of messages to the usb drive, filling it up? Upon attempting to restart the system the usb drive is no longer detected as a boot drive.

I've ran SMART tests on all the disks, and the all passed. I'm in the process of running Memtest.

Even if I had a disk problem, why would the USB drive become unusable?

I also got this via e-mail..

Cron <root@nas1> newsyslog

bzip2: I/O or other error, bailing out. Possible reason follows.
bzip2: No space left on device
Input file = /var/log/messages.0, output file = /var/log/messages.0.bz2
bzip2: Deleting output file /var/log/messages.0.bz2, if it exists.

newsyslog: `bzip2 -f /var/log/messages.0' terminated with a non-zero status (1)
