I have just recently bought the above NAS device and found that it doesnt support setting up user permissions on sub folders..
Meaning you only set permissions on the top level root folders..

This device was not exactly cheap at 1K USD so I want to see the options I have.
1. is there a 3rd party software or plugin I can install
2. can i install FreeNAS on this device??

Yeah, that doesn't sound good at all. Also sounds like it was masively overpriced.
