interface reporting no carrier

Fixed it!
For anyone who encounters a similar situation... the solution was to DELETE the previously working config on the interface via the console wizard (option 1). It then appears to re-generate. Upon gaining access to the GUI again I was able to configure the add-in NIC. Don't know what happened that first time... can anyone shine a light on the sitch?
