Dear all,
apologies if I added that topic to the wrong thread... I own a Asus P9D-I and switched from hardware raid with linux to FreeNAS (and yes, I agree, hardware raid is a pain in the a**).
Having 24TB of storage I am running a bit low on memory with these 16GB.. The Asus-board has a Intel C222 chipset (Hashwell-architecture) and based on Asus webpage does accept max of 16Gig, as it has only 2 DIMM-slots (via one channel only)...
I might be wrong, but at the time Asus launched their board, there was no 16GByte module available... So is the limitation based on the limit of the chipset per channel (means 1 channel can address only 16gig)? Otherwise I would give it a try and place two 16Gig modules into the two DIMM slots... Anyone tried / could provide some background details? I dont want to take out all parts again :)
Many thanks for any feedback, very much apreciated!
Cheers
