Hello,

I have been looking for a TeamViewer alternative for quite some time (constantly fight disconnection issues cuz they think I am commercial). I finally found an app called Remotely on GitHub that looks exactly like what I am looking for.

While I have am fairly comfortable working with Packages and Ports, I would still consider myself somewhat of a Newbie and am not sure where to start if I want to try to install this from source. Can anyone help me figure out how to install Remotely in a TrueNAS jail? The first thing I was wondering was how do I identify the dependencies? The next problem is I have never install straight from source, I am usually able to find a port. However, that one I think I could figure out if I knew the dependencies.

Remotely Info:
Website: https://remotely.one/
GitHub: https://github.com/lucent-sea/Remotely
Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/remotely_app/

Thanks!

From a quick look at the GitHub page, it looks like installation would be pretty involved, and it also doesn't look like there's any real support for FreeBSD (though I imagine it could be made to work, with enough effort). Is there a reason you don't want to set up a Ubuntu VM and run it there? That seems to be the supported/recommended way to run it.

I didn't even think about that. I guess I can try an Ubuntu VM, the only concern I have would be performance. I have only tried one other VM hosted in TrueNAS, it was a Win Server 2019 VM and performance was horrendous. Hopefully an Ubuntu Server VM has decent performance. I am using a SuperMicro Mobo with a C2750 and 16 GB of RAM in my TrueNAS box. Hopefully it has enough horsepower. My thoughts are the GUI was most of my performance issues with Server 2019.
