Hi,

i am confused here with all the infos.

I want to start with a small nas with 2 x 2TB HDD

1) Can I later increase to 4 x 2TB HDD and the volueme resizes ?
2) Can I exchange the 2TB HDD with e.g. 4TB Hdd and the size increases automatically ?

Many thanks and best wishes

1) Maybe, depending on the pool type you chose (Mirror, Stripe, RaidZ). There are some other posts in this forum regarding extension of available pools.
2) Same answer. Yes, if the drives are configured as mirror and you replace both drives.

To add disks, yes, but they have to be in their own RAID group with its own mirror or parity - you can't expand an existing group in a way that would increase capacity (only add more mirrored disks in a mirror). For sizes, yes, you can swap out one disk at a time, repair the mirror or parity after each one, and repeat until the entire group is bigger - this is the only way to increase the capacity of an existing group.
