I just purchased this IBM 1015 and two of these mini-SAS cables. I crossflashed it to IT mode. My system sees the controller as being installed. However, the drives are not being detected. I don't know much about SAS connections. Could it be something to do with the cables? These guys have a SGPIO cable in addition to the 4 SATA cables. I have seen other cables without this connector. could this be my issue since the SGPIO cable is not being connected to anything?
At first I got the "WARNING: Firmware version 15 does not match driver version 16 for /dev/mps0". I re-flashed the firmware with the p16. The error went away, but drives are still not being detected.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Not detected by the BIOS. The four drives connected to the RAID controller do not show in BIOS or Freenas.
Code:
[root@Home] ~# camcontrol devlist

Not detected by the BIOS is perfectly normal if you didn't install the boot ROM on your 1015 (and there's no good reason to install that). Not detected by FreeNAS is unusual, though, and obviously is a problem. The eBay listing for the cables doesn't directly state whether they're forward or reverse breakout cables; forward breakout is what you need. You're sure all the cables are connected well, drives have power, etc.?

Yes, everything is connected property. I tried both cables I received on both ports. The only thing not connected is the SGPIO cable as I stated before. I did not install the boot ROM

I tried multiple drives, different brands to include some SSDs I have laying around, still nothing. As you stated before the cables a bought do not specify if they are forward or reverse breakout. So, I bought a new set of cables which are clearly identified and forward breakout. They should be here Tuesday; I'll post an update then. thank you for the help so far.

UPDATE: I received my new forward breakout cables and it works like a charm. So, I guess the other cables I bought are reverse breakout. I will keep them just in case I would ever need them for something. You never know...! Thanks again for the support
