Will me adding a Host bus adapter to my server break my zfs pools I have 2 drives in there 4tb each and will truenas scale detect them as they were?

Yes. Truenas doesn't care about that. Just make sure it's an HBA and not a raid card(or at least in IT mode).

It is a PCIE SAS HBA It is labeled as a array card on the box i got from ebay
