Morning. I have been reading, but I haven't found an answer....
I read about replacing a SAS card in the event it goes bad and from what I understand you can replace a SAS card and the system won't care...
This is my setup:
FreeNAS - 9.3.1
Server - Dell PowerEdge 2950 32G of memory
SAS - Dell SAS2008 6GB HBA (part number 12DNW)
SGI Rackable SE3016-SAS/SATA-AC 16-Bay 3.5" Storage Expander
Here is my question...
I am want to set this up based on knowing at some point, my server will need swapped out for whatever reason.
The Dell server has 4 open slots and the storage expander has 16 slots. If I only use the 16 slots in the
storage expander, would I be able to swap the server with a new SAS HBA then load my saved FreeNAS configuration without issues?
Thank you.
