Hi guys, wondering if anyone knows if HP server ram DIMMs work with AMDs Vishera CPUs
Specifically wondering if either of these kits
Kit1:
http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/oas/product-detail.html?oid=5227049
Kit2:
http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/10440081/mfg_partno/695793-B21

would work with an Fx-8320, all of which would be located on a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4672#ov

The reason I ask is that I've read that some of HPs kits are only compatible with there own Motherboards/systems

Also please do not suggest different kits, the reason being I already have both of these kits on hand.

Thank you,

I don't think those will work. The reason being is that they are registered ECC. I think that motherboard does support unbuffered ECC but I don't think it will support registered dimms.

In that case do you know of any socket am3+ motherboards that would support registered ECC DIMMs ?

Not that I am aware of. As far as I know registered dimms are the domain of server grade motherboards / processors alone. The AM3+ socket is consumer grade hardware. You could probably sell those dimms and get yourself 32GB of unbuffered ECC ram that will work for you pretty easily.
