Hi there,

I want to replace a harddisk with a larger one in my Proliant Gen8 freenas server.
However, I cannot find any spare SATA ports besides the SATA ODD connector.

Since the proliant is fairly popular with freenas - can anyone tell me how people do this?

Thank you,
Christoph

Same as any system. You either attach it in a different way (HBA, USB SATA bridge, whatever) or you first detach the old disk and replace it with the new one - naturally at greater risk.

What is your setup in that G8, how many drives and what type of raid you use.
You cold go for selecting a disk, and put it offline, take it out, put the new one in and selecting replace on the offline'd disk.

I've successfully replaced the disk as per documentation through USB
