Hello,

My system has 48GB of memory but half of it is used by the ZFS Cache. I need to run more VMs but in their menu its says that only 5 GiB is available for me to use.

How can I limit my ZFS cache size to free up some memory?

Thank you.

Hey, I'm not really an expert here since I'm just starting to dwell into the TrueNAS world. But from what I've came across is that the ZFS cache is using 50% of available RAM by default but in case that the system need more it is then allocated back to the system.

I have came across this post when researching something that may be relevant to you;
SCALE using only 50% of RAM for ZFS by default?
and this;
TrueNAS SCALE VM + ZFS cache memory usage

Hope it helps :smile:

Correct. ARC (ZFS Cache) will be reduced as required
