How to copy files FROM FreeNAS TO SMB share?

I would like to copy files from FreeNAS to SMB share. I have files on FreeNAS and would like to copy them to another device which has a SMB share available. I can access this SMB share from my Windows device and copy/edit files on this share.

How to connect to that SMB share device from CLI FreeNAS? And then copy/edit files on this share? They are all on same network subnet all visible and accessible to each other.

The SMB client filesystem in FreeNAS is outdated and unmaintained. It will probably not work with a modern implementation of SMB. Your best bet is to do it the other way round or use an intermediate Windows system.

Why not use `smbclient put` ?
